The market town of Bungay in Suffolk

The Kings Head Hotel, itself steeped in history, is ideally situated to allow visitors the opportunity to sample all the rich variety of attractions that East Anglia has to offer.

Bigod Castle

Bungay is a picturesque market town, rich in history, with the English Heritage recognising the town as a conservation area. There is the distinctive 'Buttercross' market place in the town centre which dates back to 1689 and Bigod's Castle, rebuilt in around 1300, whose ruins are now open to the public.

Bungay and the surrounding countryside is the perfect place to relax, with the river Waveney providing fishing and boating, whilst near by there is an 18 hole golf course. For the more energetic there are a range of picturesque country walks, varying in length.

Bungay's Market Place

Why not explore the historic market town, with its many interesting shops, restaurants and pubs providing traditional ales and good food. There is an excellent indoor swimming pool situated nearby and the village of Earsham with its Otter Trust Sanctuary is only a short drive away.
