History of the Kings Head Hotel

This extensive ancient coaching inn standing close to the castle walls has foundations that must date back to medieval times.

Damaged in the Great Fire that swept Bungay in 1688, it was rebuilt in a fashionable period style.

Throughout the centuries it has played an important part in the social life of the town particularly in the Georgian period when fashionable assemblies were held here and Bungay became known as 'Little London'.

The tradition of social activities. excellent food and drink and live music continues to thrive here.
